An even easier way to start with Arduino is to use the Grove System of seeed, which is also available and commonly used in the ID facilities.
This system is not different to Arduino, but just adds a standardised connector to the different modules and boards to allow for easy plug-and-play action. You are still able to use a Grove sensor with a normal Arduino and the other way around.
A disadvantage of Grove is that the connector makes the whole setup slightly larger. Especially in tiny devices like wearable technology can this become an issue, but then you can always adapt it to your needs.
